Notes Five Miles Out was recorded between September 1981 and January 1982. An earlier mix of Five Miles Out appears on The Complete Mike Oldfield. Around the same time as Mount Teide, Mike recorded another track with Carl Palmer called Ready Mix (the tape box is labelled 'Ready Mix (Rough Mix)' and contains several other tracks, details of which are unknown), which was left unreleased until 2001, when it was included on the Carl Palmer Anthology One More Time.
Samples In Orabidoo, a voice can be heard at 9:13, saying "Don't come in again like that. It isn't funny and I pay someone else to make the orchestration". This (and another speech later in the track) is from Alfred Hitchcock's 1937 film Young And Innocent.
Versions of Five Miles Out The original album (19th March 1982) CD version (1982?) HDCD Remaster (3rd July 2000) The booklet in this version does not include the lyrics.
